Come to the Symposium because you are curious about self-portriats. Come to the Symposium because you may or may not have something to say on the subject of self-portraits. Come to the Symposium to think, to listen, to talk, to laugh, or to observe other people thinking, listening, talking, or laughing. Come to the Symposium with something to share regarding the subject of self-portriats. Bring a text, a painting, a song, a poem, an object, a dream, a tool, a phrase, a memory. Come to the Symposium exactly as you are. Bring food, drink, ideas, tools you need for discussion. Bring it.

What is the Curiosity Symposium?
A discussion among community on a monthly theme

The idea: Originally, symposiums were Greek drinking parties, and now they are academic conferences. This is both. A group of invited participants share the particularities of their various brains concerning a single subject. The symposium invites laymen and laywomen to educate each other in pursuit of an anti-stagnant, creative, open intellectual life. It’s not for any Purpose or Design other than discussion. There are no expectations regarding the outcome.

The method: Participants arrive and sign up for a five-minute slot to present whatever it is they have to share regarding the month’s theme. A moderator conducts a Q and A following each presentation. After the presentations, a conversation ensues.

The rules: Other than common civility, kindness, and respect, there are none.
